Many Liverpool fans have reacted to the latest development on their pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Bundesliga journalist Ronan Murphy posted on Twitter (via @swearimnotpaul) that the 23-year-old could be bought by the Reds this summer but loaned back to Die Roten Bullen for the duration of the 2020/21 season.
This would be a repeat of the way that Jurgen Klopp brought in Naby Keita in 2018. After a deal was agreed the year, the Guinean was allowed to remain in Germany for the season before.
Would you like to see Timo Werner at Liverpool?
Having scored 27 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions this season, he has also attracted the interest of the German giants Bayern Munich, but it looks very likely that he will make the move to our club on Merseyside instead of Bavaria.
With this in mind, supporters were stunned by this latest revelation and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that it would be very strange if this went ahead.
Literally makes no sense. Front three in desperate need of competition and we have Mane/Salah missing for 6 weeks bc of AFCON

Makes zero sense and LFC is not a charity.

would be so strange for this to happen, the lad only wants to better himself and he’s possibly at the peak of his career.

Why loan him back? A quality striker that would undoubtedly push them towards another title

What would be the point in that? Ridiculous.
