In the light of Mo Salah’s current absence for the next three games after testing positive, it has become clear that the club’s current array of forwards will need to be ready for the challenge when called upon.

That call also goes for none other than Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri, who has been at the club since 2018 after joining for just under £15 million from Stoke City.

Since then, Shaqiri has gone on to score 8 goals with 6 assists after 46 appearances in all competitions and at times, has shown real glimpses of the quality that he possesses despite being used more as a rotation player rather than a first-team starter.

Will Shaqiri be important during this period?

Yes

No

With the current situation at the club with plenty of absences up front, in midfield, and in defence, players such as Shaqiri will be called upon during the next few weeks with some difficult games ahead such as Leicester in the Premier League on Sunday and Atalanta in the Champions League next Wednesday.

The forward made a real impact when coming on against West Ham a few weeks back, providing the assist for fellow substitute Diogo Jota’s winning goal in the club’s 2-1 victory – and Jurgen Klopp will be expecting more of that over the next few games.

I believe that Shaqiri could be an important player over this next period of games with the certain absentees that are currently sidelined, the 29-year-old has plenty of experience at big clubs such as Bayern Munich and Inter Milan and it is that type of experience that will hold him in a great position to get some game time under Klopp and help the side through this difficult period.

What do you think Liverpool fans, will Xherdan Shaqiri get some game time? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
