21-year-old defender Rhys Williams has left Liverpool to join Blackpool on loan for the 2022/2023 season, as he looks to gain more first-team experience.
Williams has featured for Jurgen Klopp’s first team 19 times and helped the team gain Champions League qualification during the 2020/2021 campaign when the first team was ravaged by injuries.
The centre-back spent half of the 2021/2022 season on loan at Championship side Swansea, after signing a long-term deal with the Reds last summer.

However, the youngster struggled during his time in Wales and returned to Merseyside midway through the season as the club’s fifth choice centre-back.
Williams is in desperate need of some first-team football and will be hoping this is the season where he can really push on and make his mark in an exciting Championship side managed by Michael Appleton.
The defender’s departure is good news for Liverpool centre-backs Nat Phillips and Sepp van den Berg, both of whom will likely get their chance to prove to Jurgen Klopp that they deserve a stint in the first team this season.
