Sporting CP’s star midfielder Matheus Nunes emerged as a top Liverpool target weeks ago, with reports suggesting the club were ready to make a move for him this summer.
Despite this, interest has seemed to cool down this week and it seems Liverpool’s business for the summer is all but done, nevertheless, that doesn’t mean they won’t make a move for Nunes in the future.
According to Correio da Manha, there have been several offers from Premier League clubs to tempt Nunes away from Portugal, the biggest offer coming from Wolves, however, the midfielder wants to “wait” for a better offer.
Wolves are reportedly hoping to convince Sporting’s Matheus Nunes to join the club this weekend when the two clubs face each other in Portugal.
It’s said #Wolves had an offer of €45m + €5m in bonuses ready but Nunes preferred to wait for other options.

Nunes has a £50.4m release clause, and whilst this isn’t a huge price tag, Liverpool may be put off by it this summer due to already spending big on Darwin Nunez.
The 23-year-old would undoubtedly offer the Reds with something different in their engine room and is a sound alternative to midfield target Jude Bellingham, who will likely receive offers from numerous big clubs next year.
The fact Nunes is waiting out for better offers indicates he is aware of Liverpool’s interest in him, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Portugal international making a switch to Merseyside in the not-so-distant future.
