Fabio Carvalho is being wasted at Liverpool- Opinion

|

Liverpool look to be seriously lacking any sort of creativity and ideas when going forward over recent months, but they could have a reasonable solution amongst their squad already.

That player would be Fabio Carvalho.

The 20-year-old had a great start to his Liverpool career following his move from Fulham in the summer, but has since been limited to just three minutes of Premier League football since the end of October.

The youngster has the potential to be one of Liverpool’s most creative and influential players, able to play in the ten role or on either wing.

Highlights such as his 98th minute winner against Newcastle United at Anfield, his tidy finish in the 9-0 victory against Bournemouth and his goal away at the Etihad against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup especially stand out.

However, Liverpool’s attack has dropped off masively, only scoring one goal in the Premier League since the start of 2023.

There was rumours throughout the January transfer window that Carvalho could’ve returned on loan to Fulham for the rest of the season and I think it would’ve been a good idea.

Instead he finds himself on the bench every week, not getting any minutes at all despite the awful form of the likes of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez and the long-term injuries to Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.

Even Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who looks set to leave the club at the end of the season, has been selected by Klopp ahead of Carvalho.

I woud certainly be looking at increasing the amount of minutes for Carvalho in the next few weeks, he can’t do any worse than what we are seeing at the minute.
