Jurgen Klopp is starting at a selection headache before his Liverpool side takes on Napoli in the final group game of the Champions League. It is important to note, to some extent this is a dead rubber game. Both sides Napoli and Liverpool have Champions League qualification secure.
Napoli will go into the next round as group leaders unless Liverpool wins by a four-goal margin. And truth be told, that is highly unlikely given the current form and confidence of the Reds.
The most logical thing, from a Liverpool perspective, is to rotate and rest players in a game like this. Liverpool faces Tottenham Hotspurs on the weekend and rotation for a big game like this makes sense. A loss against Spurs will only further dampen the chance of Liverpool making it into the top four of the Premier League despite it being only November.
Rotation opens up the worry for yet another defeat at Anfield. Many believe that can’t be risked, but given the situation that Liverpool is in, in the Premier League, losing tonight and winning on the weekend won’t be too bad. Even though Klopp says he takes it one game at a time, this time around, he will certainly have one eye on the game on the weekend.
In the starting lineup tonight, we can expect a lot of changes. In addition to changes, it would be great if Klopp uses all 5 substitutions between half-time and 60 minutes tonight and does not risk any injury.
