The reign of terror at Anfield of Dumb and Dumber looks as though it’s coming to an end after the High Court ruled in favour of the proposed NESV takeover being able to happen. The American’s were fighting the boards decision to accept the £300m takeover, and had already seen their efforts to remove several members from the board fail.
Mr Justice Floyd has given Martin Broughton the power to go ahead with this sale to John Henry’s group with Dumb and Dumber set to make considerable losses on their investment. This decision is most likely going to eliminate the risk of the club being forced into administration as Friday’s deadline date for the repayment of the American’s loan to RBS will not mean the Reds are forced into administration as long as the proposed takeover agreement is in place. Peter Lim is still lurking in the background and might try and mount a late attempted himself though.
The only problem that we could not face is the prospect of an appeal on this decision. Should Dumb and Dumber feel this judgement is unfair, as they most likely will, then they could appeal the High Court ruling meaning that this will drag on longer.
