Barcelona starlet Gavi has long been on the wish-list of Liverpool, according to numerous reports around the footballing world, however, the Reds may have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of the talented youngster.
Gavi is currently discussing extending his contract with the Spanish giants, although the lack of progress made in negotiations has put Liverpool and other Premier League clubs on high alert.
Gavi’s initial reported release clause was said to be in the region of 50m euros, a sum which Jurgen Klopp and FSG were reportedly willing to pay for the 17-year-old.
According to Spanish news outlet Marca, there is a deadline concerning this release clause, and the fee will rise to 100m euros this month, a fee which will almost certainly put Liverpool off of a deal.

Despite Gavi’s evident talent, 100m euros for a 17-year-old who hasn’t fully proven himself on the world stage is a steep price, to say the least.
Another stumbling block Liverpool face in trying to prise Gavi away from the Camp Nou is how he is viewed by manager Xavi, the former midfield superstar sees the starlet as a key component of Barcelona’s team for years to come.
Liverpool will now likely look to other options to bolster their midfield and have been linked with plenty of other elite talents from around Europe.
