Lots of Liverpool fans were incensed with the performance of defender Joe Gomez following his side’s 1-1 draw against Burnley on Saturday.
The visitors brought to an end the Reds’ 100% home record in the Premier League, as they were unable to hold on to their first-half lead.
Andy Robertson’s bullet of a header gave his side the lead just before the interval but 30 minutes towards the end of the game, Jay Rodriguez hit a first-time volley past Alisson to shock the hosts. Other than the result there was one player which the Anfield faithful were not impressed with.
Gomez was that man. Even though he was playing alongside Van Dijk at the back, he was noticeably poor and it was easy to see why.

Per Sofascore, Gomez only won one duel in the 90 minutes, lost possession 16 times, did not make any tackles and misplaced nine long balls. No challenges from a centre back is not a good look.
With this in mind, supporters were not impressed with Gomez’s outing and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he made Phil Jones look like Paolo Maldini. Perhaps a bit harsh. While another described him as “awful” and has been since the league got back underway.
