Match Preview: Brentford v Liverpool

|

Liverpool have the chance to move up to fifth in the table, and just one point behind Manchester United in fourth place when they face Brentford this evening.

Form Guide:

Jurgen Klopp’s side come into this one in great form, winning four games on the bounce in the Premier League with victories against Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, Aston Villa and Leicester City.

The Reds always seem to string together fantastic form over the festive period, it seems to be an opportunity to build momentum on and off the pitch.

Brentford also come into this game in fantastic form, unbeaten in their last five and pulling off impressive wins away to Manchester City and West Ham as well as a draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Bees will be without their star player though, Ivan Toney, who was stretchered off in their 2-0 victory against West Ham on Friday evening.

Team News:

Liverpool will be definitely without Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Curtis Jones, James Milner and Arthur Melo for this one.

Both Andy Robertson and Caoimhin Kelleher are doubts as well, with the Scotsman being replaced with an injury against Leicester whilst the back up keeper is reportedly still suffering from a virus.

Brentford will be without Kristoffer Ajer, Aaron Hickey, Shandon Baptiste and Frank Onyeka as they all continue to look to recover from their injuries.

As mentioned before, Ivan Toney is a doubt for the game but still stands a chance of being involved.

My Prediction:

I expect a tight game with both sides really pushing for the win, similar to the game between the two sides at the Brentford Community Stadium last season.

That game finished 3-3 in the end, but I don’t think there will be as many goals this time.

Prediction: Brentford 1-2 Liverpool: Salah, Konate
