Match Preview: Liverpool look to increase pressure on Brendan Rodgers

|

Liverpool face Leicester City at Anfield in their final game of 2022, where a win could ramp up the pressure on Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Reds come into this one in good form in the Premier League after wins against Tottenham, Southampton and Aston Villa.

Whilst Leicester were in great form before the World Cup break winning four and drawing one of their last five games, however were smashed 3-0 at home to Newcastle United on Boxing Day.

Team News:

Liverpool forward, Roberto Firmino has been ruled out of this one as he continues to recover from his injury but defender, Ibou Konate is back available for selection after returning to training after a good World Cup.

Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, James Milner and Arthur Melo are all ruled out still with long-term injuries.

Leicester City will also be without a number of key players with James Justin, James Maddison, Ricardo Perreira, Jonny Evans, Dennis Praet and Ryan Bertrand all missing this one due to injury.

The Standings:

Jurgen Klopp’s men currently sit 6th in the Premier League, whilst Leicester sit 13th in the table despite their awful start to the season.

A win for Liverpool wouldn’t change their league standing, but would put them within just two points of Tottenham Hotspur in 4th place.

Whereas, a win for Leicester could see them move from 13th in the table to 10th above the likes of Brentford, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

Score Prediction:

I’m going to go for Liverpool 3-0 Leicester City, with Salah grabbing two goals and Nunez getting on the scoresheet as well.
