Liverpool v Leicester City: Starting XI Prediction

|

Liverpool will be looking to end 2022 with four wins on the bounce in the Premier League as they host Leicester City at Anfield.

Here is how we think Jurgen Klopp will lineup his side for the game:

Goalkeeper- Alisson

The Brazilian will keep his place in between the sticks after another good performance against Aston Villa on Boxing Day, despite not quite managing to keep a clean sheet.

Defence- Trent, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson

The back four will remain the same for this one after a good performance overall at Villa Park.

Ibou Konate will return to the matchday squad after reaching the World Cup final with France, but is more likely to start against Brentford on Monday rather than this one.

Trent Alexander-Arnold got 20 minutes of rest in the last game after being replaced by Joe Gomez, so will keep his place at right-back.

Midfield- Fabinho, Thiago, Elliott

Just one change in the midfield as Harvey Elliott will replace Jordan Henderson in midfield, looking to pounce on Leicester’s defensive issues.

Elliott and Thiago can play a huge part in providing a creative spark to help out the forwards.

Fabinho looks much more solid after the World Cup break, so will continue at the base of the midfield in this one.

Forward- Salah, Nunez, Carvalho

Again, just one change in the front three as I expect Fabio Carvalho to come in to replace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the left side of attack.

Ox wasn’t terrible against Villa but also wasn’t great and to be honest I think Carvalho was unlucky not to start on Boxing Day after grabbing a goal against Manchester City at the Etihad.

Bench- Kelleher, Konate, Gomez, Tsimikas, Bajcetic, Henderson, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Doak.
