Three years ago today, Mohamed Salah scored one of the club’s most iconic goals against Manchester United to send the Anfield faithful crazy.

On the 19th January 2020, Liverpool faced Manchester United in a crunch game where a win would send them a massive sixteen points clear of Manchester City.

Virgil Van Dijk gave the Reds the lead in the first half with a bullet header into the top corner, leaving United keeper David De Gea rooted to the spot.

Minutes later, Roberto Firmino thought he had doubled Liverpool’s lead after De Gea spilled the ball under pressure from Van Dijk before the Braazilian smashed the ball into the far bottom corner with a fantastic finish.

Harshly, the goal was ruled out and even United legend Gary Neville admitted on commentary that the goal should’ve stood.

The game remained 1-0 right until stoppage time at the end of the game, where the visitors won a corner and had a chance to find a late equaliser.

Liverpool keeper, Alisson, collected the ball with ease from the corner before smashing the ball up towards the halfway line where a motivated Mo Salah eagerly waited.

Salah turned and showed immense speed and strength to hold off United’s Dan James before slotting the ball past David De Gea.

Anfield descended into chaos, with Salah and Alisson’s celebrations showing how signifcant a moment this win was.

Liverpool would go on to win the Premier League title, finishing the season on 99 points after going unbeaten in the first 27 league games of the season and winning 26 of those games.
