Trent Alexander-Arnold proves his worth

|

Trent Alexander-Arnold put in a great performance as Liverpool came out 2-0 winners against Rangers, curling in a sublime free kick to give his side the lead after seven minutes.

Liverpool went onto complete their victory through a Mohamed Salah penalty in the second half.

Despite often being questioned, Trent’s defensive work was flawless. Completing 11 recoveries, 100% of his aerial duels, and 71% of his ground duels.
The 24-year-old full-back has always been criticised for his defensive ability, particularly in terms of his positioning and when faced with one-on-one situations but on this occasion Rangers star man Ryan Kent didn’t get a look in all game.
As usual the local lad was impressive going forward also, making 14 passes into the final third, 96 touches and obviously that free kick of pure perfection.
Critics have been on the England international for most of the season, which was followed by a public snubbing from England manager Gareth Southgate.
Jurgen Klopp will certainly hope to see more of this sort of form from Trent as Liverpool enter a tricky period of fixtures against the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and West Ham, with a trip to the Ibrox for the reverse fixture against Rangers in the middle.
