22-year-old midfielder Ben Woodburn has left Liverpool after his contract expired last week, joining Championship side Preston North End on a permanent basis.

Woodburn joins a host of talents to leave the Reds this summer with the club having a big clear out of the squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Welshman leaves Merseyside holding the accolade of the club’s youngest ever goalscorer; netting against Leeds United in 2016 during a League Cup outing.

Unfortunately, Woodburn’s career failed to take off at Anfield and the player was loaned out on numerous occasions to get a chance at first-team action.

Nevertheless, Preston North End provides Woodburn with the chance to get fully settled at a club and try to get himself back to playing regularly.

Preston have initially offered the midfielder a one-year contract with the option to extend further past the 2022/23 campaign if the player performs well.

Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer took to Instagram to thank the Merseyside club for the 16 years he spent there.

“Sixteen years at this amazing club!” the 22-year-old wrote. “Thank you for everything Liverpool.”
