Ceri Holland has today agreed to a contract extension with Liverpool FC Women, after joining the club last January following a successful spell in the USA.

The midfielder has gone on to appear for the Wales national side last season, whilst also helping Liverpool secure promotion to the WSL in an impressive debut season for the Reds.

Liverpool FC Women’s manager Matt Beard has praised the Wales international’s decision to extend her stay on Merseyside and spoke to Liverpool’s official club website about the exciting deal.

“Ceri came on leaps and bounds last year. Tactically she was challenged at the start of the season and she came through with flying colours.

“In the national team she’s played full-back, she’s played wide. For us, predominantly as a holding midfield player or an attacking midfield player. She’s very versatile and can cover numerous positions for us.”

Beard went on to explain how the midfielder’s athleticism will be vital if the club are to succeed in the WSL next season.

“But her athleticism, her strength, I think that will cause lots of midfield players and defenders problems in the Women’s Super League.”

Wales international Holland then spoke of her love for the group and how manager Matt Beard has created a special environment to play and be part of.

“The group we had was amazing – the best I’ve ever worked with, no doubt.

“I love working under Matt. He’s such a people person first and foremost. He recruits special people and I think that’s why we have such a special environment here.”
