Andy Robertson breaks incredible Premier League record

|

Andy Robertson put in another fantastic performance as Liverpool beat Aston Villa 3-1, but his assist for Mohamed Salah’s opener was a record-breaker.

The Scotsman has now become the defender with the most assists in Premier League history, despite only being a Premier League player for less than six years.

Robertson now sits on an unbelievable tally of 54 assists in the Premier League alone, sitting on 60 assists for Liverpool in all competitions.

To make the record even sweeter, it was Everton legend Leighton Baines who held the record before today (it’s probably going to have to be took out of their trophy cabinet).

Fellow full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold isn’t far behind Robertson, sitting on 45 assists in the Premier League despite not registering a single one in the competition this season.

Robertson has been in fantastic form for the Reds this season, despite spending nearly two months of the season sidelined due to injury.

The full-back already has eight assists in all competitions for Liverpool so far this season despite that injury, and there is still plenty of football to be played between now and the end of the season in May.

Unfortunately for Kostas Tsimikas, the Scotsman’s form looks like it will limit the Greek’s playing time for the rest of the season, which will be frustrating as the left-back has made fantastic progress in the past year.

Robertson will be looking to add to his assist tally when Liverpool host Leicester City in the Premier League on Friday night.
