Benfica reject £88million offer for Liverpool target

|

Benfica have reportedly rejected a bid worth £88million from an unnamed club over the transfer of one of Liverpool’s top transfer targets, Enzo Fernandez.

The Argentinian has just had a hugely successful World Cup, winning the most coveted trophy in the game as well as picking up the World Cup’s Young Player of the Tournament award against the likes of Jude Bellingham.

However, it seems this has massively raised the 21-year-old’s price tag with the Portuegese side rejecting a huge offer, according to Record.

Benfica instead are reportedly adamant on holding out for around £105million if they are to be persuaded to let the wonderkid leave the club.

It’s hard to see Liverpool splashing that sort of money on Fernandez, when just £15million more would be enough to secure the signing of long-term target, Jude Bellingham, who is reportedly Jurgen Klopp’s first choice when it comes to midfield reinforcements.

Many people are suggesting that it was in fact Liverpool who made the offer for the player, as they are the club with the strongest links with the player over recent weeks.

Many outlets had already been reporting that Liverpool had agreed a deal with the 21-year-old over a transfer to Anfield, so this bid would make sense,

If it was the Reds, then it will be interesting to see what their next move is or whether £88million was as much as they had wanted to spend on the youngster.

January will certainly be an interesting one for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
