Brighton 2-1 Liverpool: Player Ratings

|

Liverpool have been knocked out of the FA Cup after a last-minute 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Sunday afternoon.

For the most part, Jurgen Klopp’s side looked better than in previous weeks but the performance suffered in the final parts of the game

Here is how we think each player performed today:

Alisson Becker- 7/10

The Brazilian couldn’t do anything about either of the goals and made some crucial saves to keep the score level until the final minute.

Trent Alexander-Arnold- 6/10

The full-back was having a decent game both defensively and offensively until he was replaced by James Milner after 60 minutes.

Put some fantastic crosses into the box but no one had the desire to get onto the end of them.

Ibou Konate- 7/10

On the whole, I think all of the defenders played pretty well with a bit of a fluke goal and a set-piece being their only downfall.

Couldn’t do anything about the goals and gave a pretty solid presence into the back line.

Joe Gomez- 6/10

Similar to Konate, but just needs to learn to clear his lines properly. There’s too many times where he flicks crosses away and they don’t even make it out of the box.

Andy Robertson- 7/10

Robertson had a good game keeping Solly March quiet for most of the game.

The Scotsman was always pushing forward but, like Trent, no one was getting on the end of his crosses but at the same time was perhaps fortunate to not receive a red card.

Stefan Bajcetic- 6.5/10

Still a promising performance from the Spaniard, but an early yellow card limited how high of an intensity he could press their midfielders at.

Thiago- 7/10

Thiago controlled the tempo for quite a bit of the game and was involved offensively and defensively.

His presence was a massive miss once he was replaced by Curtis Jones.

Naby Keita- 7/10

Again, the same could be said for Keita with the midfielder providing lots of energy and creativity.

I can’t help but think he was replaced for a fitness reason, because he was a massive miss once he went off.

Harvey Elliott- 8/10

The 19-year-old was Liverpool’s best player before being replaced after an hour.

Should’ve got an assist when Salah missed a one-on-one and also took his own goal really well.

Cody Gakpo- 6.5/10

Gakpo again looked promising and was always involved but the ball just doesn’t seem to want to fall right for him at the minute.

Klopp seems adamant to use him as a false-nine, in the Firmino role, but I’m not so sure.

Mohamed Salah- 7/10

Made plenty of fantastic runs between the defence and notched an assist for Elliott’s goal, but he needs to start taking his chances again.

If he takes that first-half chance, the score is 2-0 and we have one foot into the next round.

Substitutes- 3/10

Out of all five substitutes only James Milner can claim his inclusion didn’t make performances drop off.

Jordan Henderson and Curtis Jones did nowhere near enough from the bench.

Fabinho and Nunez were absolutely atrocious.

The Brazilian should’ve been sent off and honestly, didn’t even look interested when he came on.
