Some Liverpool fans praised former Manchester United and Everton striker Wayne Rooney after he said that the Reds deserve to win the Premier League title this season.
The 34-year-old has been public enemy number one with the Kop faithful for many years after his stints with our two biggest rivals and had his say on the league’s current situation.
The Premier League has been postponed until April 30th due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the pushback of Euro 2020 in the summer for 12 months has freed up space for our domestic campaign to be completed, if possible.
Rooney told The Times in his weekly column that a part of him believes it would be good if the season was cancelled, but admitted that we have been fantastic and have put a lot of work in to win this season’s title and our first for 30 years.
Will we lift the Premier League trophy behind closed doors?
Yes
No
Because of this, supporters paid tribute to Rooney, as hard as that might have been, and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described him as a “class act”, while another said that he “always rated” him.
Be like Wazza. Proper legend. Always rated you, mate. https://t.co/YF5vJAhAhX
