Fabrizio Romano: Liverpool dealt blow over ‘Bellingham alternative’

|

Liverpool have reportedly identified Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo, as an alternative option if they aren’t able to complete the signing of Jude Bellingham.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, securing Caicedo might also be a tricky deal to get concluded in the January transfer window.

Speaking to Caught Offside, the reliable journalist claimed: “Caicedo is not expected to leave in January, the situation is still the same. Liverpool, Man United but also other clubs are monitoring him.”

Liverpool are in desperate need of more midfielders, due to the age profile of the likes of Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara and the fact that James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Arthur Melo are all expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

Romano spoke more on the competition from Manchester United, saying: “He’s been on Manchester United’s list for years but then nothing happened. I’m sure Brighton will try and keep him until at least June.”

Ideally, Liverpool needs midfield reinforcements in January, not June as they continue to try and push on in their challenge for Champions League qualification after their poor start to the season.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that the Reds might be able to get both the Bellingham and Caicedo deals completed, but it is starting to look extremely unlikely. Very frustrating.
