Liverpool face Chelsea in crunch Premier League clash

|

Liverpool face Chelsea in the Premier League at Anfield in Saturday’s early kick-off, where a loss for either team would pretty much put an end to any hopes of finishing in the top four at the end of the season.

Form:

As it stands, Liverpool sit 9th in the Premier League on 28 points, but do have one game in hand on Brentford (8th) and two games in hand on both Fulham (6th) and Tottenham Hostpur (5th).

Should Liverpool win their two games in hand, they would move above both Fulham and Tottenham and could move within seven points behind Newcastle United in fourth place.

The Reds had won four on the bounce in the Premier League before two awful performances led them to defeat against Brentford and Brighton.

Chelsea are also in an awful run of form with just two wins in their last ten Premier League games leaving them sat 10th in the league table, level on points with the Reds but having played one more game.

The Blues did beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in their last game with Kai Havertz securing them the three points with the winning goal.

Team News:

Liverpool will be without Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Virgil Van Dijk and Arthur Melo for this one as they continue to recover from long-term injuries.

Darwin Nunez is expected to be back available for selection as Jurgen Klopp’s side continue to struggle in front of goal.

Chelsea’s Joao Felix will miss the game as he continues to serve his three game ban after his red card in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham.

Both Reece James and Ben Chillwell are doubts for the clash, having just returned from injury during the week.

New signing, Mykhailo Murdyk could be handed a start having completed his move to the Blues earlier in the week.

Prediction:

It’s almost impossible to predict how this game is going to go, with both teams being unbelievably inconsistent so far this season.

If the game was at Stamford Bridge I would lean towards a draw, but since the game is at Anfield I think Liverpool will fight their way to a 2-1 win.

Liverpool 2-1 Chelsea- Salah and Trent to score.
