Liverpool v Chelsea: Starting XI Prediction

|

Jurgen Klopp is faced with a serious team selection headache as Liverpool face Chelsea in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds’ usual first-team have been absolutely awful in recent weeks, whereas a younger lineup looked much better in the 1-0 win against Wolves in the FA Cup during the week.

Here is how we think Jurgen Klopp will lineup his side tomorrow:

Goalkeeper- Alisson Becker

Alisson will come back into the starting lineup against Chelsea, despite Caoimhin Kelleher’s solid performance against Wolves during the week.

Defence- Trent, Konate, Gomez, Robertson

I expect Trent Alexander-Arnold to come back into the starting lineup in place of James Milner, whilst Andy Robertson comes in for Kostas Tsimikas on the other side.

After his fantastic performance during the week, Joe Gomez will keep his place at the heart of the defence alongside Ibou Konate.

Gomez’s pace could be vital against the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling.

Midfield- Henderson, Thiago, Keita

After having the full night off against Wolves, I have a feeling Jordan Henderson will come in and play at the base of the midfield.

I can’t see Klopp dropping his captain for this one, especially with vice-captain Virgil Van Dijk being out injured.

Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita should keep their place in the midfield after their fantastic performance during the week.

Keita has the legs that this midfield has been crying out for all season.

Forwards- Salah, Gakpo, Nunez

Cody Gakpo will keep his place in the false-nine, dropping deeper to collect the ball and get Keita and Thiago more involved and look to release the two wingers.

I think Darwin Nunez will come back into the lineup but be placed more as a left-winger than a striker.

Mohamed Salah will also come straight back into the starting lineup after only playing twenty minutes against Wolves on Tuesday.

Bench- Kelleher, Matip, Tsimikas, Milner, Fabinho, Bajcetic, Elliott, Carvalho.
