Liverpool star named in EA Sports Team of the Year

|

Liverpool star, Virgil Van Dijk, has been included in the EA Sports Team of the Year for 2022.

Some eyebrows have been raised due to the inclusion of the Liverpool defender after having a rollercoaster of a year last year.

In the first half of the year, Van Dijk was immense, leading Liverpool to the FA CUP, Carabao Cup, the Champions League Final and also took the Premier League title right down to the wire against Manchester City.

However, in the 22/23 season, Van Dijk has struggled for form with one excellent performance being followed by a shaky one.

Either way, the Dutchman was included in the squad and partners Real Madrid’s Eder Militao at the heart of the defence.

Another decision that has caught the eye of fans on social media is the inclusion of Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois between the sticks, with many believing Alisson was the best goalkeeper in the world last year- and I would have to agree.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham is included in the midfield as links to Liverpool continue to grow stronger by the day.

Here is the EA Sports Team of the Year in full:

  • Goalkeeper- Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid)
