Liverpool seek revenge on Brighton in the FA Cup

|

Liverpool travel to face Brighton in the FA Cup Fourth Round on Sunday, looking to retain the cup after lifting it last year.

The Reds fell victim to a 3-0 demolition to the Seagulls in the Premier League just a couple of weeks ago, with Jurgen Klopp describing the game as the ‘worst performance’ throughout his spell at the club.

Form:

Jurgen Klopp’s side has just one win in their last five games, beating Wolves 1-0 in the FA Cup Third Round replay.

Other than that, they’ve drawn 2-2 with Wolves and 0-0 with Chelsea as well as awful performances in 3-1 and 3-0 defeats to Brentford and Brighton.

The poor form leaves Liverpool sat 9th in the Premier League, but are still expected to go full strength for this FA Cup tie.

Brighton have lost just one of their last five games, in a 4-2 defeat to Arsenal on New Years Eve.

De Zerbi’s side have since beat Everton 4-1, Liverpool 3-0, Middlesbrough 5-1 before drawing 2-2 Leicester City.

Team News:

Liverpool are without seven first-team players, with Virgil Van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Arthur Melo, Fabio Carvalho and Nathaniel Phillips all missing this one with injuries.

Darwin Nunez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both expected to come back into Klopp’s starting lineup after missing the last few games with minor issues.

Former Red Adam Lallana is a doubt for Brighton as well as Levi Colwill, who is sidelined with a long-term injury.

Moises Caicedo will also be absent after handing in a transfer request last night, with both Arsenal and Chelsea looking to sign the 21-year-old.

Prediction- Brighton 1-2 Liverpool
