Liverpool star set to miss Merseyside Derby through injury

|

Liverpool midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, is a doubt ahead of the Reds’ clash with Everton at Anfield on Monday night according to numerous reports.

Reliable Liverpool journalist, Paul Joyce, has revealed that the number six is “struggling with a hip injury for Liverpool ahead of the Merseyside Derby.”

Jurgen Klopp should still have plenty of options at his disposal, with Brazilian midfield duo Arthur Melo and Fabinho returning to first-team training yesterday.

The Spaniard’s injury opens the door for a return to action for the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho who have found themselves dropped for Stefan Bajcetic and Naby Keita in Liverpool’s last four fixtures.

It could also provide minutes to some of the younger members of Klopp’s squad, such as Harvey Elliott, who has impressed in recent weeks despite poor team performances.

There is no doubt that Thiago’s composure and experience will be a huge miss, particularly in a Merseyside Derby, but theres no more experienced player in Klopp’s squad than Jordan Henderson when it comes to the Derby.

Hopefully a good performance against the Toffees could kickstart Henderson’s season finally, after a woeful few months in a Liverpool shirt.

I predict that Liverpool’s midfield will be Stefan Bajcetic, Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson, with the likes of James Milner, Harvey Elliott, Fabinho and Curtis Jones on the bench.
