Liverpool star trio set to return from injury this week

|

Liverpool are set to receive a huge injury boost as three crucial first-team players are set to return from long-term injuries this week.

According to Neil Jones, Diogo Jota, Virgil Van Dijk and Roberto Firmino could all return to girst-team training at some point before the Merseyside Derby against Everton on Monday night.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that any of the three will be fit enough to start against Everton, after being sidelined for a large amount of time.

Diogo Jota has been sidelined since Liverpool’s 1-0 victory against Manchester City in the Premier League back in October, meaning he hasn’t featured for the reds in almost four months.

The forward has only featured eight times in all competitions, mostly from the bench, yet to score a goal but with four assists.

Roberto Firmino has been out for two months, since before the Qatar World Cup.

The Brazilian was in fantastic form before the injury though, scoring nine goals and assisting four.

Virgil Van Dijk has been sidelined for the smallest amount of time out of the trio, after picking up a hamstring injury in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat at Brentford on January 2nd.

Jurgen Klopp will undoubtedly be looking forward to having the trio back at his disposal, as his side continues to struggle at both ends of the field.
