Liverpool starlet Sepp van den Berg is set to join Bundesliga side Schalke on a season-long loan deal after an impressive stint in the Championship.
Van den Berg was a popular name on a lot of teams wish-lists this summer but it seems the youngster has chosen the Bundesliga as the best place to develop. [Daily Mail].
Championship side Blackburn Rovers were moments away from clinching the youngster’s signature but a last minute move to Schalke ended any hopes with the Lancashire side.
It had been thought Van den Berg would play some part in Liverpool’s first team this campaign, due to the club’s current injury list.

News emerged today that another Bundesliga club tried to steal the youngster from Schalke’s grasp but failed in their attempts to do so.
FC Koln tried everything in their power to convince the centre-back of joining them over their fellow Bundesliga club, however, the youngster’s decision was already made. [Sky Deutschland].
The 20-year-old will now complete his medical at Schalke, after fully committing his decision to the club.
It’s a shame to see Sepp sent out on loan yet again, there had been high hopes for him to have a bright future at Anfield when he joined the club.
Nevertheless, the Bundesliga is the perfect place for youngsters to perfect their craft and hopefully, the Dutchman will come back an even better prospect.
