Match Preview: Liverpool look to fight back against Wolves

|

Liverpool face Wolves tonight in the replay of their FA Cup Third Round tie, which finished in a 2-2 draw at Anfield two weeks ago.

Jurgen Klopp will desperately be hoping for a reaction from his side, after two abysmal performances against Brentford (1-3) and Brighton (0-3) in the Premier League.

Form:

As already mentioned, Liverpool go into this one in awful form with their performances being even wose than the results in recent weeks.

The Reds have won two of their last five, but their last four games have all been extremely poor.

Even in their 2-1 win against Leicester City, they were gifted the three points by two own goals by Wout Faes.

Wolves are performing much better under new head coach, Julien Lopetegui, with just one defeat in their last five games which came against high-flying Manchester United.

They’ve beaten Everton and West Ham United, with draws against Aston Villa and Liverpool amongst them as well.

Defensively, Wolves have been fantastic recently, only conceding four goals in five games with two of them coming in the 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Team News:

Liverpool will be without Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Virgil Van Dijk and Arthur Melo for this one as they continue to recover from long-term injuries.

Darwin Nunez remains a doubt and is expected to be kept safe for Liverpool’s crunch game against Chelsea on Saturday.

Stefan Bajectic, James Milner and Curtis Jones are all back available for selection after suffering short-term injuries lately.

Wolves will be without Sasa Kaldjzic, Pedro Neto and Boubacar Traore for the game, but striker Diego Costa is in with a shot of making the squad.

New signing, Pablo Sarabia, will not be available for this one as the final details are yet to be finished to confirm his move from Paris Saint-Germain.

Prediction:

It’s been a long time since I predicted Liverpool to lose, but I really don’t see this one ending well.

Just two days seperating this game and their 3-0 defeat to Brighton, how much can change in a couple of days.

Wolves 2-1 Liverpool- Salah to score.
