Liverpool’s sluggish start to the season has made fans question whether their squad is good enough to compete for trophies.

And with an extensive injury list that only seems to be getting worse, the Reds are in desperate need of some fresh ideas.

Jurgen Klopp’s midfield has been highlighted as the biggest area for concern, with fans crying out for some engine room reinforcements.

TNT Sports claim that Liverpool will now make a late move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes; a player on the fringe of the French giant’s star-studded squad.

Paredes has a contract at the Ligue champions until 2024 and is well behind Marco Veratti in the team’s pecking order so a move away wouldn’t be completely out of the blue.

The Argentina international has featured in all four of PSG’s games this campaign, however, they have all been from the bench.

Liverpool certainly needs more depth in the middle of the park and with Naby Keita suffering another injury last week, Paredes would be a savvy bit of business from the Reds.

James Milner and Jordan Henderson both showed their age in Monday’s fixture against Manchester United and whilst both have been great servants to the club, it’s time to reinvest in younger talents.

Paredes is comfortable playing in the number six role but is slightly more attacking-minded than Fabinho; it’s this versatility that may push the Reds into making a late move.
