Fox Sports show Expediente Futebol, via Sky Sports News, claims Chelsea attacker Willian has openly stated that it is ‘unlikely’ he will sign a contract extension at Stamford Bridge once his current deal expires on June 30 – resulting in some Liverpool fans discussing a potential swoop for the winger.

The Brazilian, who was linked with a move to Anfield six years ago before he ultimately decided to opt for London, is now at the centre of discussion once again for a handful of Reds due to his imminent availability on a free transfer – potentially opening the door for a Jadon Sancho alternative.

Sancho, according to a recent report from the Daily Express, was touted as a potential suitor to strengthen our forward line and provide some much-needed competition for star wingers Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane – but the alleged £120 million asking price has reportedly turned Fenway Sports Group off the idea of a pursuit for the Englishman.

Now, with Willian out of contract and looking unlikely to extend, some Reds have discussed the possibility of swooping for the 31-year-old instead – even if he is debatably on the cusp of reaching his twilight years compared to Sancho.

The Express report also reaffirmed that both Mane and Salah are apparent targets for Real Madrid, with Jurgen Klopp potentially having to keep his eye out for worthy and economical replacements who can sure up our front three should both star men opt for a move away from Merseyside.

Here’s how our fans responded to the notion of signing Willian.
