Player Ratings: Brighton 3-0 Liverpool

|

Liverpool put in another abysmal performance in their 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Saturday, leaving them sat in 9th place in the Premier League.

It’s hard to claim any of the players can hold their head high after that, but here is how we thought each player performed:

Alisson Becker- 6/10

Made a couple of decent saves in the game and ultimately couldn’t do anything about any of the goals.

A shame that the defense in front of him were absolutely hopeless.

Trent Alexander-Arnold- 6/10

Wasn’t the worse performance from Trent to be fair, making a few important tackles and interceptions.

The full-back was also one of the only players who didn’t seem to give up at any point of the game.

Joel Matip- 3/10

The worst performance I’ve seen from Matip in years, maybe even since he joined the club.

Absolutely awful both defensively and on the ball, and made a terrible mistake for Brighton’s opening goal.

Ibou Konate- 4/10

The Frenchman looks like a shadow of himself since returning from the World Cup.

Looks too relaxed and keeps losing track of his runners at important times, proven in the last moments on Danny Welbeck’s goal.

Andy Robertson- 5/10

Struggled defensively, but in fairness he may aswell have worked that left-hand side by himself with Oxlade-Chamberlain ghosting once again.

Fabinho- 4/10

Another really poor performance from Fabinho, with the drop off in his performances being insane over the last few months.

Every game at the minute seems to be passing him by but we have no option but to play him with no cover in the six role.

Jordan Henderson- 3/10

The same could be said for both Henderson and Thiago too.

Liverpool’s formation didn’t even look like it had a midfield in it, may aswell have been a 4-0-3.

People can say his legs have gone, but they looked fine at the World Cup last month.

Thiago Alcantara- 5/10

The Spaniard has often been a rare bright spark in midfield this season, but today wasn’t the case.

No rhythm in his performance, but did still manage more tackles than the other two combined.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- 4/10

To be brutally honest, it baffles me why we are still giving him minutes ahead of the likes of Carvalho, Elliott, Jones and Doak considering he will be leaving the club very soon.

Not only that, but he is nowhere near good enough anymore.

Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota’s return cannot come quick enough.

Cody Gakpo- 4/10

Looked lost at times, but was asked to play in a solo role down the middle which he hasn’t done much in the past.

A very hard game to make your Premier League debut, patience is key with this one.

Mohamed Salah- 5/10

The Egyptian provided plenty of work rate, but just couldn’t find the finishing touch needed at the end of it.

Hopefully he brings his goalscoring boots to the Chelsea game next weekend because we are in desperate need of saving right now.
