Liverpool face Manchester City in a highly anticipated Carabao Cup game in their first game back after the World Cup break.
The Reds will be looking to take one step closer to retaining the title that they lifted earlier this year, beating Chelsea in a penalty shootout in the final.
However, their opponents are also a force to be reckoned with, especially in this competition.
The Citizens had gone unbeaten in the League Cup for four years, until being knocked out by West Ham United on penalties early in the competition last year.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool put an end to City’s dominance in the cup, after them winning it four years on the bounce beating Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Tottenham in the final.
Many think that whoever wins in this tie, is nailed on as the favourite to go on and win the whole thing, however I’m sure Manchester United and Newcastle United fans will be thinking otherwise.
Both sides could be seen fielding weaker teams in this one, as many players continue to build up match fitness after just recently returning from the World Cup in Qatar.
However, big names such as Mohamed Salah, Thiago Alcantara, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and Erling Haaland will be looking to make sure the game is still a spectacle.
