According to the Liverpool Echo, West Ham United’s midfielder Declan Rice amazed the Liverpool hierarchy at the Qatar World Cup. The Reds appeared to join the race to sign him. The reports in the Echo believe this transfer ignited in the recent past following his great performances for The Three Lions at the World Cup in Qatar.
It’s uncertain whether Liverpool will move further and actually make a move for Rice. They are reportedly close to Jude Bellingham and getting both of them is clearly not an option. Rice might leave West Ham United in 2023, as the club will be approached by a number of large teams. Chelsea is believed to have a lot of interest and seems like the most likely destination for him.
Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard has openly praised Rice. He has stated that the midfielder is ‘superb’. However, the player is expected to be worth £100 million. In an interview with Ashley Preece’s BirminghamLive, Steven Gerrard mentioned, “I thought building up we were good today. It was a combination of us lacking a bit of creativity in the final third but, also, West Ham being really strong in that department, defensively strong and organized. It’s probably a combination of both why we haven’t got anything from today.”
Rice has mentioned that he has the ambition to win major trophies like the Premier League and the Champions League and in order to do that, a move away from West Ham United is certainly on his mind.
