AC Milan reportedly keeping tabs on Liverpool player

|

AC Milan is carefully monitoring Naby Keita’s situation at Liverpool. News has come out that he will not sign a new contract. However, his wages and injury record may prove to be a stumbling block for the Serie A champions. According to a report in the Calciomercato, AC Milan, among other clubs are keeping a track of Keïta’s contract situation.

The 27-year-old midfielder’s long-term future at Anfield is believed to be uncertain. His existing contract is due to expire at the end of the current season. Liverpool was thought to have found common ground to sign an extension, but that seems not to be the case currently.

A recent report on Football Insider claims that Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have decided to take a U-turn on their decision to hand Naby a new deal. They are now ready to let the Guinea international leave the club. The hope is to let him leave in January for some sort of return on the transfer fee they paid for him. However, a free transfer seems to be on the cards.

If he is unable to agree on new terms with Liverpool, Keita will be allowed to sign a pre-contract arrangement with an overseas team at the beginning of January 2023.

Keita has made 117 appearances for Liverpool during his four-and-a-half-year time at Anfield. He scored 11 goals and created seven assists. His injury record was frustrating as he has missed 75 games due to injury.

Where do you think Keita will play football at the start of next season? Do let us know in the comments section below.
