Liverpool’s 18-year-old goalkeeper Harvey Davies has had the summer of a lifetime; he started it off as part of England’s U19 European winning Championship team in Slovakia.

The youngster was then named in Liverpool’s preseason squad tour of Thailand and Singapore, where he made his first appearance for the senior team last week against Crystal Palace.

The goalkeeper spoke to Liverpool’s Official Club Website about his summer so far and his excitement to be involved in Liverpool’s first-team squad for the first time in his career.

‘It was obviously really special for me – first game I’ve played so now the debut is done. It was nice to do it out here in Singapore in front of all these fans as well. It’s a really proud moment for me and my family. I know they were all watching back home; it was a bit of a shame they couldn’t be here but I know they will be absolutely really proud of me and I’m really happy for myself as well.’

The goalkeeper was asked about what it was like to play in front of 50,000 spectators, describing it as a moment he will never forget.

‘It’s right up there, it definitely is in the top. Like I say, it’s an incredibly proud moment and I’ll never forget this.’

When asked about his plans for next season the young goalkeeper wants to carry on improving and make his mark on the first team when possible.

‘To keep cracking on, keep making next steps. I made a step tonight. And pretty much just keep going up and try not to slow down and just keep making the same progress that I can.’
