Liverpool have turned down an initial bid from Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest for 21-year-old right-back Neco Williams.

According to Mail Sport, the Reds are holding out for a fee they believe Williams is worth; £15m and have suggested to Forest that they come back with an improved offer for the talented youngster.

Williams failed to make his way into Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI in the first half of last season and secured a loan move to Fulham in the January transfer window.

The right-back enjoyed a successful loan spell at Craven Cottage, securing the then Championship side promotion to the Premier League.

Williams is looking to leave Merseyside after the club brought in Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay earlier this month, leaving the Wales international with few options to push himself into Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Whether Forest will meet Liverpool’s £15m valuation remains to be seen, with the club already spending big on former Liverpool forward Taiwo Awoniyi for a club-record fee of £17.5m from Union Berlin.

Fulham, PSV Eindhoven and Southampton are also all reported to be interested in signing Williams during this transfer window, so a solution for all parties is likely to be found.
