It was the news every Liverpool fan was waiting for; Mohamed Salah signed a 3-year contract extension with the club last week, committing the final years of his playing career to the Merseyside club.

Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 and has won every possible trophy with the club; the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup in recent campaigns.

Despite this, Liverpool’s German manager Jurgen Klopp believes the Egypt international still has his best years ahead of him and believes the 29-year-old to be the face of his ever-improving squad moving forward.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website Klopp spoke of his excitement about Salah choosing to extend his time at Anfield.

“This is a special treat for our supporters to enjoy their weekend even more. I’m sure there will be some celebrations for this news tonight,” Klopp said of Salah’s new deal.

The German tactician went on to state that the winger is one of the best in world football at the moment and that contract negotiations are only normal for a player of his caliber.

“Mo is one of the best players in the world; it’s only normal there are things to sort when you are at his level. So big credit to Julian Ward and Mike Gordon for guiding us to this destination.

“I have no doubt Mo’s best years are still to come. And that’s saying something, because the first five seasons here have been the stuff of legend.

“Fitness-wise, he’s a machine – in the most incredible shape. He works hard on it and he gets his rewards. His ability and his skill level gets higher each season, and his decision-making has gone to another level also.”
