These Liverpool stars will be at the next World Cup- Opinion

|

As we enter into the latter stages of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, we’ve decided to look at which of the current Liverpool stars will be at the next World Cup in 2026.

Alisson (Brazil)-

The Liverpool number one will most likely be involved for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup considering his contract at the Reds is currently set to expire in 2027. The 30-year-old is the best goalkeeper in the world and should still be at a top level when he is 34.

Virgil Van Dijk (Netherlands)-

The Netherlands captain is more than capable of performing at a world-class level up until the next World Cup. You will struggle to find a sharper, quicker and commanding 31-year-old centre back and I can see him continuing at a high level for years.

Ibou Konate (France)-

The Frenchman is currently part of the France squad that has reached the semi-final of the Qatar World Cup, beating England 2-1 in the Quarter Final. The 23-year-old is already a world class defender and will almost definitely be an important component of the World Champions’ defence by 2026.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (England)-

Although his international career has been nowhere near as stunning as his club career, any manager would take Trent to the World Cup for a different dimension. Especially as by 2026 Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier will be too old to make the cut.

Harvey Elliott (England)-

The 19-year-old has shown his quality this season following his horror injury last season, with many suggesting that he could be in the running for a place in this year’s squad. England are often criticised for having a lack of creativity and cutting edge from midfield, and Elliott can definitely provide that in years to come.

Luis Diaz (Colombia)-

Following Colombia’s failure to qualify for the 2022 tournament, I expect the South Americans to bounce back at the 2026 World Cup. Luis Diaz will be 29-years-old and no doubt be a pivotal part of that Columbia squad.

Diogo Jota (Portugal)-

Jota will also be 29-years-old by the time of the next World Cup and with Cristiano Ronaldo crashing out of his final World Cup this year, the Liverpool man is more than capable of slotting into that number nine role for Portugal.

Darwin Nunez (Uruguay)-

After a really poor World Cup, Uruguay will most likely bounce back in 2026. Nunez will be 27-years-old and in his prime by that point and will look to carry on the legacy of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani fior La Celeste.
