Liverpool are likely to dive into the January transfer window in the hunt for some midfield reinforcements after their poor start to the season.
Here are three midfielders that Liverpool could look to sign in January:
Jude Bellingham
I guess it’s best to get this one out the way first, as it is becoming the biggest transfer saga in years at Liverpool.
The Dortmund midfielder has been in insane form so far this season, leaving some of Europe’s biggest clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool all being heavily interested in the England international.
The 19-year-old has 12 goal involvements in 22 appearances for the Bundesliga side so far this season, finding the back of the net on nine occasions.
It is expected that Bellingham would cost the Reds at least £120million, which makes this move very unlikely especially in January.
Frenkie De Jong
The Netherlands star has struggled for game time since being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer, only playing just over 1,000 minutes for the Spanish giants.
Since moving to Barcelona from Ajax for roughly £75million, De Jong has made 157 appearances for his club as well as 45 caps for the Netherlands national team alongside the likes of Virgil Van Dijk.
The Dutchman isn’t expected to cost as much as Bellingham but would still be a pricy move for Liverpool especially with the current ongoings amongst the ownership of the club.
Youri Tielemans
Perhaps the most realistic proposition on this list, the Belgian midfielder’s contract is set to expire in the summer meaning Liverpool could be in line to secure a cheap deal for the Leicester man.
The number eight has been a bright spark for Leicester in a pretty poor season, making 17 appearances for the Foxes this season and scoring three goals.
Tielemans has also made 54 appearances for the Belgium national team, once again proving the quality that Tielemans has.
At just 25-years-old, the midfielder is just entering his prime and could prove to be a really smart option when January comes around.
