Liverpool may have finally found their Trent Alexander-Arnold understudy in what could be another bit of savvy transfer business that the Merseyside club have become renowned for over the last few years.

The right-back in question is Aberdeen F.C teenager Calvin Ramsay, who has impressed on all fronts in the Scottish Premier League this season; despite his age, the youngster has featured in 33 games across all competitions.

Ramsay also won the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Young Player of the Year award and has attracted attention from Liverpool and several Premier League clubs.

The move would see Ramsay become Trent Alexander-Arnold’s backup. Still, as the progression of Kostas Tsimikas has shown this season as Liverpool’s second choice left-back to Andy Robertson, he’ll have plenty of opportunities to prove himself.

Ramsay is expected to be Liverpool’s second signing of the summer transfer window after fellow starlet Fabio Carvalho joined the Merseyside club from Championship side Fulham.

Emerging talents have been vital to Liverpool pushing forward in their trophy pursuits over the last few seasons, and Ramsay will undoubtedly be part of the next generation of players Jurgen Klopp will be attempting to make great.

Ramsay making the move to Anfield will allow Liverpool to cash in on current backup right-back Neco Williams, who spent the second half of the 2021/2022 campaign on loan at Fulham.

The deal looks set to be completed over the next week for a fee of £4 million; it will be exciting to see how Ramsay progresses under the tutorage of Jurgen Klopp.
