Liverpool’s strongest XI – Opinion

When the international break finally concluded, many believed that it would have been a blessing in disguise for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. However, the 3-3 draw with Brighton Hove Albion at Anfield only made the mood more grim and panicky. Most players got a good rest, some even barely played or trained. Still, the performances were off the mark and nothing seemed to work.

Trent Alexander Arnold and Mohamed Salah both returned from international duty earlier than expected. Hence they will be relatively rested.

Virgil van Dijk, Darwin Nunez, and Mo Salah all return with a goal under their belt. This is something that will help boost their confidence and hence help push the group.

Thiago Alcantara and Matip have been given a good rest. Both returned from injury and got a couple of weeks off which would have helped ensure they could take that little extra time to get fully rested and fit for a very gruelling October.

Captain Jordan Henderson, Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konate all are back to training after spending time out due to injury. Their return from injury is surely going to give a huge boost to Klopp and Liverpool. Many will expect all three of them to get into the starting line-up to help turn things around.

Keeping all this in mind, we could finally see Liverpool’s strongest eleven. Given recent form and return from injury. This is what Liverpool’s strongest XI could look like.

Forward line: Luis Diaz – Darwin Nunez – Mo Salah

Midfield line: Thiago Alcantara- Fabhino – Harvey Elliott

Defense line: Andy Robertson – Virgil van Dijk – Matip – Trent Alexander Arnold

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker

Something needs to change and change really quickly if Liverpool is to salvage anything from the first two months of the season. As of now, they sit in midtable in the Premier League and have had a mixed start to their UEFA Champions League group. Is the answer within the team through training, or is it in the transfer market, only time will tell?

Andy Robertson shouldn’t play ahead of Kostas. Useless right foot, can’t dribble, spoiling offside traps, crosses are more speculative than precise; at least compared to Kostas. If the Greek gets a run of games, he will be a lot better than he is presently, though already playing better than Robertson at the moment.
