Liverpool’s midfield situation is a grim one. They have a set of talented players, but most of them are injury-prone and aging. This could be the difference between finishing in the top four or the Europa League places this season. That being said, Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool staff need to find potential smart deals that help bolster the midfield in the upcoming transfer windows.

According to reports onĀ MilanLive, Liverpool has been linked with the signing of young AC Milan midfield talent Sandro Tonali. He is a midfielder who seems to have the mold of a Klopp midfielder. With age on his side and a lot of top-flight experience, Tonali appears to be an excellent bet for Liverpool. Liverpool had previously been linked with getting the signature of Tonali when he was 18 and playing for Brescia.

The Reds attempted to add depth to their midfield in the recent transfer window. However, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Curtis Jones all suffered injuries that forced Klopp’s hand. That is when they decided to bring Arthur Melo into the team on loan from Juventus. However, he also ended up with a long-term injury.

Tonali transferred to AC Milan, where he is an integral part of the team at San Siro. The youngster has already been compared to legend Andrea Pirlo who also started his career at Brescia. This is because he shares a similar passing range. Tonali has already racked up 11 appearances for the Italian national side.

There seems to be a possibility of this signing because AC Milan has shown an interest in signing Naby Keita. Maybe a swap deal that involves cash could be on the cards. In actuality, this seems like a great deal for Liverpool, given that they will get one of the best midfield prospects and replace an injury-prone player who has never quite hit the ground running.

Time will tell us whether this is a transfer that will go through or not.
