The Liverpool fan base is torn between whether or not Fenway Sports Group is doing the right thing at Liverpool. It would be harsh to judge them based on the net spend. Over the twelve years, they’ve turned Liverpool back into a giant force to reckon with in the football world.

Since 2010, they have overseen Anfield’s redevelopment (expansion) after they were told it could not be done. They then went on and built a brand new world-class training complex. Then the magic move was getting Jurgen Klopp to manage Liverpool.

They then supported him and oversaw a period where Liverpool Won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League and won both the domestic cups, the Club World Cup and the SUEFA Super Cup. Yet some fans are unhappy with the way they are running the club. Their decision seems to be one made on one and one statistic alone, net spend on world-class talent.

Playing devil’s advocate, both opinions seem to be fair. FSG have achieved so much for this club, and they have taken Liverpool to great heights. Many give all that credit to Klopp, but without FSG, I am pretty sure there would have been no Klopp.

There are rumours that FSG is looking to sell Liverpool. A world-renowned football asset they purchased for about 300 million pounds is currently at its highest valuation, somewhere near 4 billion pounds.

The question is, with Klopp now in the last couple of years of his contract and most of the golden period players entering the last couple of years of their playing career, is it the right time to sell? And what might be a more challenging question to answer? Who will be willing to pay so much?
