Cisse back

Djibril Cisse, who has scored 14 goals for the Reds this season, appears to back in the groove with Liverpool boss Benitez as the manager has selected him to be in the squad to face Wigan.

The player who appeared to be disgruntled at being taken off the pitch after 50 minutes against Man City was given, what seems to be, the harsh treatment by Benitez – as he was dropped from the entire squad that faced Sunderland a few days later.

With striking duo Morientes and Crouch not excatly hitting top goalscoring form Benitez appears to accept that, grudges aside, the player is needed in the squad. Whether Benitez plays him from the start is another question.

Benitez reiterated that he rested the player midwwek said of Cisse’s inclusion: ‘I rested Djib in midweek but he is back in the squad for the Wigan game. All players want to play. It’s normal.’
