The latest transfer rumours doing the rounds are that Liverpool will be trying hard to get the signature of English midfielder Declan Rice. Apparently, Liverpool has already begun the groundwork in the background.
This rumour has come about after Simon Phillips , a football writer and podcast host who follows Chelsea FC, mentioned this. Remember that Chelsea was heavily linked to the English midfielder, but he decided to stay back at West Ham United.
Many believe Rice has taken his game up a notch since the turn of the calendar year. He will be an excellent fit for Liverpool, for sure. Ex-Liverpool player Danny Muprhy mentioned, “If he was playing ahead of Fabinho and alongside Thiago and he took Jordan Henderson’s place at Liverpool. Imagine him in that role. Rice is expected to be a part of the English World Cup squad. If he manages to play at a high level at the World Cup, he will undoubtedly raise more eyebrows. Unfortunately, that will also help drive the price further, which might tempt the Hammers to sell their star player and recoup a significant transfer fee.
The link to Rice is an interesting one. He has two years left on his existing West Ham United contract. It is clear that Jude Bellingham is the number one target, but if Liverpool gets priced out of a deal for him, then Rice fits as a perfect alternative who will be cheaper but not be a significant drop in quality.
