Liverpool were unlucky last night after crashing out of the FA Cup during their fourth-round tie against Manchester United, which saw the Reds lose 3-2 at Old Trafford despite Jurgen Klopp’s side looking much better than in recent weeks.

It was a devastating loss given that the Reds had finally returned to their goalscoring ways and were playing some great football considering their recent performances in the Premier League – with Mo Salah ending his goal drought with two great finishes to try and get a win for Klopp’s side.

One player really stood out other than Salah during the game with him looking back to his best at parts and again emphasising the important role he plays for the Reds in his centre-forward position and that was Brazilian Roberto Firmino – who managed both of the assists for Salah’s goals and was the man of the match for me.

As already mentioned, Firmino managed 2 assists during the game as well as playing 4 key passes with 2 accurate through balls which were both converted by Salah.

His link-up play and pressing were massive during the game, with him pressuring the United midfield and defence consistently throughout and really showed how important he is to the side with his role and ability to draw in other players to create spaces for our wingers – which clearly worked with Salah netting twice.

I have always enjoyed Firmino as a player and when you keep in mind that he isn’t your usual No.9 which much of the footballing world a keen to do, you can appreciate just how good a player he is as a playmaker even though his goalscoring numbers at as high as other strikers in the league but as has been said before, this isn’t the Brazilian’s sole role.

What do you think Liverpool fans, did Firmino impress you yesterday? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
