Five players Liverpool could sign on a free transfer

|

With Liverpool’s owners looking more reluctant to splash the cash than ever- we might see the Reds look to make a couple of free signings in the summer.

Here is a list of five players that Liverpool could sign for free in the summer:

Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City)-

The German could provide a smart, cheap and experienced option in the middle of the park as supporters remain adamant that midfield is the main issue for Liverpool’s poor form.

Jurgen Klopp worked with the 32-year-old at Borussia Dortmund, before the German went on to make 281 appearances for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola- winning four Premier League titles.

Adrien Rabiot (Juventus)-

The 27-year-old has found his form again over the past 12 months, but Juventus could be forced to let the midfielder go due to their financial issues at the club.

Rabiot has made 16 appearances in Serie A this season, scoring three goals and assisting two.

The midfielder also played a huge role in France’s run to the World Cup Final in Qatar back in December.

Evan Ndicka (Frankfurt)-

With Joel Matip entering the final year on his contract at the age of 31, Liverpool could reportedly look to sell the defender if a suitable offer comes in.

Ndicka could prove to be a smart option as a free signing to become an option at the back for Jurgen Klopp.

The 23-year-old has started every game for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga so far this season, and has already made 165 appearances for the German side despite still being young.

Youri Tielemans (Leicester City)-

The Belgium international is set to leave the Foxes for free at the end of the season after not leaving the club in the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old is just entering the prime years of his career and has bags of technical ability, which he has proved over the course of his four year spell at the club.

In 184 appearances, Tielemans has scored 28 goals and assisted 29 and Liverpool have a serious lack of creativity from the midfield area- leaving too much pressure on the front three.

Thomas Lemar (Atletico Madrid)-

Atletico find themselves in a similar financial situation to Juventus, where they could be forced to let go some of their key players due to financial issues.

Lemar used to be a winger but since his move to Spain, has become more of a central player in a midfield three.

Liverpool were linked with a move for the French international back in 2018, but pulled out of a deal to pursuit Nabil Fekir instead, with that move also falling apart.
