Liverpool has been handed an injury boost after Jurgen Klopp handed an injury update on Diogo Jota, Virgil van Dijk, and Roberto Firmino. Virgil and Firmino were pictured outdoor training on Thursday.

The Dutchman hasn’t featured for the Reds since limping off with a hamstring injury against Brentford last month. His absence has been a major worry for Liverpool, with them unable to find their feet and ending up on the wrong side of results with him, not on the pitch. His return will be a welcome one. He should match fit in a week or two and will be reintegrated into the starting line-up the moment he is declared fully fit.

The Brazilian suffered an injury during Liverpool’s mid-season training camp in Dubai. He is now back to outdoor training, and that, coupled with the fact that he is on the verge of signing a contract extension, is a double advantage for Liverpool. His integration into the squad will certainly add attacking depth for Klopp, and his Redmen, given that Luis Diaz is still out injured.

Jurgen Klopp revealed that the pair, along with Diogo Jota, was a couple of weeks away from a return to team training when offering his latest injury update last week.

This could be the beginning of things finally going Liverpool’s way after a horrendous season. The hope will be to ensure that they are not rushed back into playing and are given enough time to be fully fit. An injury setback for any of these three players could be devastating for Liverpool.
