In midweek, Liverpool had to dig deep to earn the three points on offer, at Turf Moor, against Burnley.

The win ensured that Liverpool kept the pressure up on Manchester City, at the top of the Premier League table.

However, it came at a cost.

In a game that saw some tackles flying in that were, to put it mildly, borderline, our defender, Joe Gomez, was taken off after a tough challenge from the Burnley captain, Ben Mee.

Gomez looked to be in some pain as he left the pitch and it is understandable considering that the tackle had left the player with a fractured left leg.

The defender, just 21-years-of-age, has been a regular in Jurgen Klopp’s team this season starting in 13 of the 15 fixtures played so far.

The medical staff at Liverpool, are predicting that Gomez will be out for a minimum of six weeks, although that figure is, as you’d expect, dependent upon how his treatment and rehabilitation goes.

Here at Vital Liverpool, we’d like to take this opportunity to wish Joe a speedy recovery and we hope to see him back in a Liverpool shirt sometime in January.
